Advice please

i want to fill in a crack in the path by my shed should I use ready mixed cement or ready mixed concrete ?

Not much difference really for that job, I would use concrete.

How large is the gap that needs filling?

You could use a dry mortar mix and brush it in, if the gap isn't too big.

With a cement/mortar joint you have to make sure both surfaces you wish to fill to are solid with no movement.

Try getting post hole concrete , What I do is put it in dry and let nature add the moisture to let it set. Drying it out too fast can cause cement/concrete to crack. Best a slow dampening as I mentioned, it doesn't take long and sets rock hard

If as you say has already cracked , check the sides first and remove any loose material
