How long will the internet last?

We have lived in a period where we have come to accept the internet as a given. Yet over that time it has changed significantly over a very short period. I predict that the internet as we currently use it/see it will no longer exist in this state in ten or twenty years. I think we will have severely restricted content in any system that continues and this type of medium (the one we use) will be impossible to access. It's already reached it's zenith. I wonder what will replace it (if anything).

What do you think?

If President *The-word-I-cannot-say* has his way - not very long!

Net neutrality is what allows innovation to flourish on the internet (and sites like this to survive) - if we have to start paying ISPs or face slow speeds, it will mean the huge corporations will dominate it with little or no competition... which will be very very bad for us all.

Re: How long will the internet last?

I'm thinking that the increasing amount of cyber attacks will eventually destroy the world by causing vast shut downs in technological areas such as health and defence.

The internet is increasingly to blame for communication within terrorism as well and is becoming even more advanced.

Also, with our young folk becoming more immersed in mobile phone dependability, we will have a nation of young adults not knowing what is real or reality.

Apologies for the doom and gloom at Christmas!

I recommend googling

Bill Gates 15 Predictions>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Most of them have come to pass & are in common daily use.

In 1999, Bill Gates wrote a book titled "Business @ the Speed of Thought." In it, Gates made 15 bold predictions that at the time might have sounded outrageous.

(explains why he 's currently $90.8 billion better off than us plebs)

I'm reading a book at the moment called 'The boy who fell from the sky'. It's set in the future and messages are received through special eye lenses. The sender's name appears and they just have to accept or decline. The lenses also list information about a person just by looking at them. Interesting stuff. They still have internet as such and something called the dark web which is more difficult for the authorities to read you.

Re: How long will the internet last?

I agree, I just can't see it being as accessible as it has been and I can predict it will move from a form of leisure to increasingly being a control and monitoring mechanism. People will be forced to hold all their information online otherwise they will have no access to services. It will move in a sinister direction and most people won't even notice or care.
