It also says why he must have infuriated people like Oliver Cromwell spending vast amounts of money raised by taxes on these fabulous art works .

This programme was amazing, only wish I could get to London to the exhibition. I hadn't heard anything about it, only stumbled on the programme by chance. Luckily I recorded it 'cos I'll probably watch it again.
Watched again on iplayer, and the ceiling of the Banqueting House is something to behold,doubt you would be allowed to lie on the floor as the presenter did. The portrait of his children by Van Dyck was a favourite, intimate and natural.
