Fascinating video on how wolves changed Yellowstone Park

A really interesting video on how once species can affect so many others.

I think you will find it very interesting Meg. I was really surprised at just how things can be affected by just one change.

That was amazing. Not something I'd ever thought about.

We have wolves here, but I've only ever seen one from a distance.
There was a cull a couple of years ago to help protect some caribou. Sad.

Glad you enjoyed the video. It was certainly something I had never realised, or thought about before. I found it extremely interesting.

Part of the natural pattern and how it should be.

Lovely video & I would not have know about that before, I did know that the wolves had been reintroduced but not how they had changed the park for the better.

Same here Tiffany. Of course like most people, at least I think so, I understand how certain things can change nature, but I hadnīt ever really thought about how re introducing a species, that was once a natural part of the environment, could change things so drastically and for the better in my opinion.

Re: Fascinating video on how wolves changed Yellowstone Park

I have visited Yellowsrone three times, my favourite place on earth (apart from Montana). We were fortunate enough on our last visit to see a wolf on a kill. That along with bears, moose, bison, elk beavers, otters, etc., fabulous wildlife. I belong to a Facebook Yellowstone group and have seen many examples on there from the Rangers on just how the ecology of the park has benefitted from the introduction of wolves. They have some very interesting talks.

It is a great pity the UK do not do the same to control the Red Deer population in the Scottish Highlands. Bring back the wolf, and linx, just as they are doing with beavers.

Clumsy, I really enjoyed that, thank you.

Looking at it from a slightly different angle as well, it's not hard to see the damage and harm mankind does by over-hunting or destroying natural habitats of creatures, is it.
