Wow, Northern Ieland piccy thread.

We finally left the Republic and took the most scenic route we could to Co Antrim, Norn Iron.

The Dark Hedges, as seen on TV. Would you believe that a coach had dropped off its entire contents just before I snapped this piccy? Well it had, but due to the unusual light characteristics I was able to lose most of them in this image.

We followed the coast road for the scenery rather than take the shortest route to our destination and came across several view points such as Dunluce Castle as a result.

Another viewpoint as we wended our way to our next hollerday cottage.

This was one of the many waterfalls we saw on our journey.

Another waterfall near where we were staying.

I have been fascinated by the Giant's Causeway since I was ten years old, many decades ago. I finally managed to cross it off my bouquet list over fifty years laterer.

Some of the Basalt columns from the world hairytidge site.

Looking across the Giant's Causeway bay.

Zooming in to look at the left hand end of the previous piccy.

Pan to the right (that's the hand without the watch) and we see the Giant's organ.

Zoom in for a better look.

Some more of the columns.

More of the Causeway Paving Co.

We can do you a deal on our hexagonal blocks.

There are plenty more round the back.

These block pavers will look lovely when you have levelled them all off.

Following the coastal road from the Causeway.

A sheltered village.

These little bays and inlets could be in Cornwall if you didn't know better.

One of the many small harbours around the coast.

Hello Harry.

Things to do whilst waiting for opening time.

It's not easy to capture a flashing light on camera. The left hand end of Ruthlin Island.

Towards the right hand end of the island.

Carrick a Rede rope bridge.

Following the coast around.

A bit more of the coast.

Another waterfall.

Ships and an old lime kiln just down the road from our holiday cottage.

Glenariff waterfall, about a km from our cottage.

Just down the road, the waves were breaking over the sea wall.

The seat of all learning.

I've got butterflies in my stomach.

Towers and tunnels.

On a clear day you can see the sea.

The view down the valley from our cottage near the Glenariff Falls to the seafront at Waterfort.

After this we crossed over to Scotland to start our journey home.

Re: Wow, Northern Ieland piccy thread.

Now do you know why I believe I live in one of the most beautiful places in the country Fruity

Shame you couldn't make it over to Raithlin, the left hand lighthouse is an upside down one, the light is at the bottom

Told you about the hedges, it's manic with coaches Many a time I've had to get out and bang on the side of one to get them to move over. They just block the road forgetting it's a through road for local traffic

As usual, great photo's Fruity.

It looks so similar to Scotland - you're making me homesick.
