Gagging clauses

Looking at carillon and what's gone on there and knowing where I work they've started paying people off but making them sign gagging orders, I am just wondering is there any good reason for them ? They seem to be used to hide bad doing, that really shouldn't be hidden.

I don't like gossip but these actually cause it as people speculate about what's going on.

We've had an attempted suicide where I work of one lady unable to cope with whatever she has been told not to reveal.

Should companies be allowed to use them ?

Shouldn't everything be transparent ?

Ok not everything but things that are actually wring doing or illegal must be revealed somewhere by someone.

Re: Gagging clauses

There is no doubt about it Julie.
The use of gagging orders is being abused by both criminals and authorities and companies etc. etc. etc.

Something MUST be done about this absolute scandal!

Re: Gagging clauses

Just wondering Julie....What would have happened if she had refused to sign this gagging order? Asking because I'd very likely not sign it either...

Re: Gagging clauses

They are offering money roxy, if they don't sign they are out on their ears no pay off. Lady on question has worked there 17 years, if she leaves of her own free will no pay off, they are making redundant those who sign so they get their redundancy payment plus a figure that obviously makes them sit up and take notice.

They can't do that, take them to the Tribunal, you don't have to pay now and for pity's sake join a Union.

If they really want you out there's little anyone can do these days purwell. Tribunals are expensive too. All most people want is a quiet life.

Re: Gagging clauses

Hi

They should be banned for general use, only allowed for commercial secrets.

The NHS use them a lot.

Tribunals are no longer expensive, don't let the rogue employers win. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-40727400
