Re: Digital Dreams

The 'Theremin' was an early electronic instrument which was played by moving the hands between two antennae. One hand controlled pitch, the other volume, output from the oscillators was fed directly to an amp or passed through other sound modifiers. Normally the instrument was not touched but pizzicato effects could be produced by briefly tapping either antenna. It was much used in cinema soundtracks to produce eerie/ghostly sounds. The 'Laser Harp' used by Jean Michel Jarre used a similar effect.

This is Rupert Chappelle playing his composition "Ghost Ship" ...

Re: Digital Dreams

This is "The Hunt" by Tony McPhee, guitarist of The Groundhogs, the "B" side of his solo album "Two Sides of Tony McPhee", the other side being acoustic blues. It was his contribution to the anti-hunt movement. Apart from his voiceovers the whole track is synthesized using, I think, ARP 2600 patchcord and ARP Odyssey synths plus a drum machine ...

Re: Digital Dreams

I remember Roger Ruskin Spear (ex Bonzos) supporting King Crimson using his Theremin Leg and his Automata.

David Vorhuas (White Noise) on Tomorrows World.

Re: Digital Dreams

The first video is of Malcolm Cecil, one half of Tonto's Expanding Head Band, along with Robert Margoulev, two electronic music geeks who released a couple of albums in the early 70s. TONTO was actually an acronym for "The Original New Timbral Orchestra", a huge modular synth constructed from several Moog modulars, ARP synths and various others all connected together. The first multitimbral polyphonic synth.

The second video is from their "Zero Time" album, "Jetsex" ...

Love the Mark Shreeve - Angel of Fire track. Not heard that one before.

I'm actually quite a fan of Dance and Trance. This one always reminds me of summer holidays
