So having the nuclear subs and are there as protection not as a threat.
Has anyone give any thought to the work the Scottish people get from having the sub base there? not just those directly involved with sub maintenance but the supply industry as well. Even down to local cafes and delivery drivers get work indirectly

So do away with all that in a high unemployment area and thousands more out of work and no doubt unable to meet living expenses so out on the street

the consequences of anything also have to be taken into consideration. The knock on affect hits more people than those directly involved

Thought has already been given to all this potential for Faslane - since they've discovered large oil reserves offthe Hebrides, Faslane can serve as a build and repair base to the off-shore oil platforms that will be needed to exploit the field.

Nobody seemed to care when the Tories closed the pits, closely followed by most of our medium to heavy engineering.

Re: An indictment of Economic policy

A lot of firms closed because the trade unions kept demanding more and more money for the workers. Typical of labour not realising that to meet these wage increases means putting up costs. Eventually buyers will go to where they can get the same product cheaper, so these companies have to close down.
A good example is the car industry with all the constant strikes. No company can continue under those circumstances so they had to close, forcing those who kept asking for more and going on strike to loose their jobs

This is the how labour think without the consequences of their actions.

You can't run a business without making a profit, there is no point, but labour supports can't see that

The Japanese car industry seem to do all right here, I wonder why they succeeded but others didn't. It surely couldn't be the quality of the management could it???, idiots like that prize prat Michael Edwards.

Yes but lots of other countries were equally unprepared for WWII. They don't have nuclear now and haven't been targeted because they are part of NATO which does have nuclear. I don't understand why we need to pay for our own if we are part of a defence alliance.

I realise all these programmes create employment but so does HS2. They will never abandon HS2 because they have spent too much money already.

Yeah but, like, the Firms only had to sack one Gaffer, to give a 100 workers a rise.
