No 'we' don't!!
You'll find lots of Canadians spell it 'plough,' and it is taught that way in lots of schools - on this side of the country anyway.

Yes, we spell jewellery like that but I do wish it was jewelry, because its how it's said, not 'jew-well-ery' which is how it looks.

We also spell 'cheques' like that, not 'checks' as in writing a cheque for someone.

That's the French creeping in but "vive la difference". Hope I got that right
Hi AC . Sorry, I didn't mean to offend half the population of the world.

Re: Different Spelling?

Having a chuckle over this thread. I'm Canadian but I live very close to the USA border and that being said we not only learn to spell like them we pronouce a few words like them. Mostly listening to USA newscasts does it.

For instance, roof I might pronouce ruff. And if I had to I would call the pow-leece

It's pronounced 'winjers'

Ozzies sometimes refer to the Brits as 'whinging poms'

Ah ... wingers would make more sense

It's an odd word anyway isn't it.

Which reminds me ... 'Aluminium'

we have that extra 'i' and the emphasis is on the 3rd syllable
