FAX - Why .....?

Why should there be a need for a fax machine these days, surely computer does the job - am I wrong on this .....

Sorry yes you are, I have to fill in time sheets each week and fax them off if they don't arrive none of us get paid. No way would they give us computer access we have a very old fax machine and we are not the only workers having to do this each week. So long live the fax it means we get paid

Wouldn't you sign the document and scan into computer .....

Could do, but that takes longer. I seem to recall in the past that some places would accept faxed signatures but not emailed ones. No idea why!

I would have thought they were all dumped out ages ago, big awkward ugly looking things that they were.

The one I use isn't so big, not much bigger than the old fashioned answer phones that had a phone attached. Hidden under a desk on a pedestal table so we can just pull it out when needed. Actually smaller than our home printer.

Not everyone has the internet and to send a fax, you only need a phone line so it is, in effect, cheaper to send a fax than an email if you have to pay a montly charge for internet services plus buying a computer/laptop. They are the only things I can think of.

That's just me, I can never get my FAX right.
