Number of people online on forum?

Can someone answer me this? Why is it that when we see stuff like this:

The most members online over 24 hours was 180, 18-11-2015 at 01:45 AM.

My username appears - well, I am NOT a person who is ever up at 1.45am - and if I were the last place I would be is on here.

And another thing - why is the time displayed on the forum always an hour in advance of the actual time of day? It's very annoying.

Re: Number of people online on forum?

Hello Indigo the answer to the first part of your question is the total number of members online over a 24 hour period up to 1.45am was 180. That doesn't mean you were posting or still online at that time .... you were online sometime up to 1.45am in the 24hour period.

Regarding the hour in advance it appears you have your time settings wrong.

Go to Control Panel

>>> Edit Options

>>> Scroll down to Time Zone

>>> Your Time Zone should be set at (GMT)Western Europe Time, London, Lisbon, Casablanca

>>> Scroll to the bottom of page and select Save Changes.

Just leave the time as it is, you won't be late for any appointments.

Never mind Indigo, your life must be going well if you let things like this worry you.

Re: Number of people online on forum?

Most users ever online was 526, 05-08-2014 at 02:25 PM.
This means the most users ever online at the same time were 526 (includes guests and bots)

The most members online over 24 hours was 180, 18-11-2015 at 01:45 AM.
This bit means the most members we had logged in to this forum over a 24 hour period was 180 (does not include bots and guests)

Re: Number of people online on forum?

Thank you Mags and Azz, for the explanations. I had already made my way to the control panel and made sure that I was on GMT. I wondered whether the "Automatically detect DST" which I assume is daylight saving - was set to the wrong option - that is really why I was asking the question.

But I see for some reason the time is now right - and I have not altered anything at all.

Browbeaten you know nothing about my life. It's always best not to make assumptions.
