Hold the sunset

The latest offering from the BBC's 'comedy' department starring John Cleese and Alison Steadman.

I'm quite a fan of Alison Steadman so thought I would give it a go but was very disappointed. I thought the comedy was too obvious which seems to be the norm these days.

I would give it 4/10

Anyone else watch it? Did you like it?

Re: Hold the sunset

Its rubbish my first thought was that John Cleese needs the dosh to pay off his latest wife.

That's quite true.

Not impressed, it did not even raise a smile from me.

Re: Hold the sunset

I saw about half of it. Painful to watch two great talents struggle with such an awful script....

Re: Hold the sunset

I thought it amusing until the stupid son got stuck in the window.
Then I thought it just daft.
Maybe it gets better?

Re: Hold the sunset

I can't stand John Cleese so it was with trepidation I sat down to watch it, I love the other actors do thought I might be able to put up with him, sadly it wasn't so. I don't know why we can't write decent comedy these days it's a mystery.

I gave up as soon as I discovered that there weren’t any subtitles.

I'm not keen on John Cleese. I didn't mind him in Fawlty Towers but I thought he was the least funny in Python and hasn't made me laugh since.

Re: Hold the sunset

6 million viewers, average age 61...

Interesting to read the reviews...the Telegraph reckons it was "fizzing with comic energy", really?

Radio Times is more realistic...http://www.radiotimes.com/news/tv/20...w-john-cleese/
