Nero, according to Websters there's another definition:

fitch (fitch) a polecat, the fur or pelt of a polecat. Interesting.

That could be because the fur from many animals are used to make brushes DM, the softest brushes are from squirrels but the coarser brushes are from badgers, pigs and horses.

PS: The finest brush you can get is from Sable fur but they're so expensive, the other option as I've said is squirrel hair.
