I understand there are a number of British top chefs that want to remain in - trust them to make your toast?

There are a great many respectable and important people on both sides of the argument. The arguments of neither side are helped by attemps to ridicule the other.

How come you believe the people on this list, who are mostly part of the establishment, but you claim to understand 'The ragged trousered philanthropist? (other thread).

Just asking.

Just call me an old cynic, but everything you mention here could still be done without the need for the bloated, expensive, unaccountable, interfering, bottomless pit of waste that is the dictatorial EU political elite.

I agree. Why do they have to keep flying over to Europe when we have video conferencing?

Re: "Remain" supporters - spot the running theme

I was listening to one of rare (!) EU debates taking place at the moment and one guy said billions (I don't remember the exact figure) could be saved in the EU economy if we voted out by scrapping ..... wait for it .... EU employment, environmental and financial services legislation.

Now it's my turn to be cynical - I just wouldn't trust the largely unaccountable party in power (be it conservative or labour) to take up the reins of that kind of legislation - I think such regulation/ legislation would fall down their list of priorities.

Anyway back to the original OP who claimed that it was the wealthy that headed up the remain campaign - I'm not sure that Iain Duncan-Smith, Boris Johnson and their ilk are, by my standards anyway, exactly poor!

Oh yes they are poor, especially in the brain area.
