Roberts poems (part 1)

Where shall I put it...........
GOod news and bad news

The good news is I have found on a CD, 212 poems what I thought I'd lost.

The bad news is that I can't find a suitable slot to put some in, so I have made a new thread to bore you all with from time to time

Most of them are mediocre but some stand out, even if I say it myself

Here is a short one

I heard of two old chums that met
To see the film Titanic
The sinking scenes made the front rows wet
and caused a minor panic

MAGS posted.....

Robert, I for one would love to read your poems and if you have over 200 of them I think you deserve your own thread.

Poems are usually found in the Leisure Activities section here:

http://www.over50sforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=24

Can I suggest you start a new thread in that section ..... maybe title it "Robert's Poems", then add your poems to it whenever you wish.

Re: Roberts poems (part 1)

Some live the life of a butterfly
the truth from them concealed
not them then wisdom uttered by
to them nothing is revealed

yet others feel the world wide pain
of those who are less fortunate
mans inhumanity to man
increases yet it ’s not too late.

a billion pairs of eyes worn-out
will this day be their very last
a billion pairs of eyes turned out
from those crowds last gasps

Dead are the eyes who've seen too much
their suffering all in vain
No healing balm or gentle touch
history repeats and repeats again.

Re: Roberts poems (part 1)

THIS LIFE
Life can be so unfair
Sad but still true
Some haven’t a care
Is that true of you?
Who can fathom why
In this world of ours
Some before their time die
Like yesterdays flowers

What is the purpose of
this temporal form
Destined to die,
our loved ones to mourn
Life flashes by slowly
then faster and then
Comes quickly
your three score and ten

But what does it matter
how long you live
If you embrace life
and to others then give
Fair shares of you talents
and precious time too
What you sow will be
generously returned to you.

What a lot of pondering our Robert does do,
His mind does the wandering - as all minds should do.
More, should we think on what we do and why,
Its the wisdom within us - so give it a try.....

Thankyou Mags & Pats...........

I thought

I thought I’d had the best days now
But I changed my mind and here is how

Each day brings more love and hope
Too much to moan and whinge and mope

The sun comes forth new every day
We can be certain that it always be that way

Just as the moon comes out each night
Changing the darkness to brilliant light

Every blade of grass and vivid flower
Every tree that grows tall and towers

Things beneath the wind and waves
Knows the plan the creator gave

All in all I am happy now I know
Forward always is the way to go

Excellent Pats,
all this pondering has given me a headache.

Re: Roberts poems (part 1)

YES, I REMEMBER THE GOOD OLD DAYS

Yes, I remember the good old days
When things were better in every way
No traffic jams or motor car fumes
Music that actually had a tune

Well , I remember the good old days
Today’s kids would be truly amazed
At just what we do with imagination
With our hands our heads and perspiration

What we lacked in the good old days
We never missed now we throw stuff away
A tree top den, catching tiddlers in the stream
They were happier days, or so it seems

Now we have our old happy days
Surfing the net , constantly amazed
All the time in the world to contemplate
Until we’re called to the Pearly Gates..

Re: Roberts poems (part 1)

I like poetry and I really enjoyed yours Robert. I'm not very good at writing it but I do have a few favourites, some I've already posted. I do have another one (hanging on the wall in the hall) that reminds me that humans are a fleeting existence compared to nature itself; it's a nice reminder not to take us so seriously. I might invade your thread with it
