Apparently JBR doesn't like inflicting pain on vermin in his home, but is willing to inflict pain on children in his care........as long as it is monitored and recorded.......of course.

Most peculiar moral stand point..

Kids need to be more militant, and join a union eo that they can go on strike with the train drivers and conductors, right.

Not really. I have been caned in my time. I deserved it and I don't resent it having been done.

The threat alone is usually sufficient.

I wasn't preaching to you. I'm sorry if I gave that impression.

Re: Teachers leaving the profession

What precisely do you want teachers to teach?

The "education" system has little to do with education. From my own questioning of people entering the job, hardly anyone has studied nor considered the concept of what an "educated" person looks like.

It's akin to a doctor entering his/her profession without any idea of what a "healthy" person is.

So, to repeat the question, what do you want from teachers?

At present, the modus operandi appears to be to chase "targets" and to treat youngsters as a means to fulfill a quota of numerical progression.

Not what I, nor JBR signed up for; and we're both glad to be out of it.

Seems to me that teachers nowadays are akin to Amazon employees in that they have to meet weird and irrelevant output criteria without any understanding nor reflection of what it all means apart from some concept of profit/loss model. Children are now viewed as a commodity in the eyes of our government rather than human beings.

£3 million will be ploughed into ‘anti-homophobic and transphobic programme.

Education being politicized?

Teaching equality isn't political IMO it's just making sure all kids come out of school understanding no matter what their parents say they have to treat everyone the same as IMO it should be.
