High on the heath as far as you could drive were parked an assortment of cars and one solitary moped. Streaming away from them and climbing ever upwards was a motley collection of middle aged and elderly women. Coated and muffled against the biting wind and cold of this October night. Coughing, spluttering and wheezing they reached their destination the flat stone at the highest point on the heath which served as their alter. Stripping off their mufflers and coats they awaited the witching hour. As the appointed time neared they linked hands and formed a circle around the alter, around their leader. Slowly the circle began to move and their incantations begun.It is difficult to take seriously a coven dressed in a collection of jumpers, jeans, tracksuits, shellsuits and wellington boots but gradually as the incantations continued and the circle begun to move faster and faster a menacing aura manifested itself. Suddenly there was a single crack of thunder and a bolt of lightening forked down splitting the flat rock asunder. The women screamed and shrieked as they grabbed their coats and raced down to their waiting cars and one solitary moped. Amid much revving of engines and grinding of gears they raced away into the night.
It would be a long time before these would be witches could go to sleep without their bedroom lights on.

We had a very busy evening, there must have been 30 knocks on the door, great to see the laughing children in their costumes and all well behaved, plenty of different nationalities too. I was glad to see their parents keeping a close eye on them from not too far off, yes the old Halloween tradition is alive and well in this part of Dublin.
Very good Mags, the bit of 'Blood' is a nice touch too.

Just wrestled Grace into bed so hyped up on the excitement of the evening and sugar she didn't quite know what she was doing end of the evening LOLSteven reckons bucket by her bed would be a good idea she ate so much chocolate - on his watch I may add by that time I was at work !
