Carpet cleaner.

I'm thinking of buying a carpet cleaner.

I wondered if anybody on here has one and are they any good.

Would I be better hiring a man to come & do the job?

Re: Carpet cleaner.

We have one and yes well worth getting

Its heavy and big so you do need a large space to store it in. Hence ours is in a cupboard in the garage. It all depends on if the cost is worth it for the number of times you are going to use it

It might pay just to hire one against employing a man to do it for you. it is all down to what it would cost. This model isn't that cheap but you get what you pay for

Re: Carpet cleaner.

Hi

I have white carpets, and I mean absolutely white.

A legacy of my Ex.

I have a VAX carpet cleaner, a brilliant bit of kit.

The cleaner however is only as good as the cleaning fluid you use.

Forget the expensive branded stuff, it costs a mint and is not very good.

Get the Screwfix stuff.

A fraction of the price and brilliant.

Immaculate white carpets are not an issue with this stuff, and all for less than a £1 a week.

Re: Carpet cleaner.

I have a bissell wouldn't be without it with dogs and me the most likely to spill her drink ! They do some really good pet stain remover to use with the machine that sorts out any organic spills and even blood if you can get it up quick enough.

Re: Carpet cleaner.

I have a Vax which will do upholstery as well. It does quite a good job, but is very heavy. Tires me out when I use it. I have had it about 4 years now and there may probably be a lighter/better version out now.

Re: Carpet cleaner.

I'm not sure lighter is necessarily better for cleaning, my bissell is seriously heavy if it were lighter I'm not convinced it would groom the carpet so well.

Re: Carpet cleaner.

Thanks everybody.

I don't want to buy a really expensive one ... I'm thinking it might pay me to hire one for the day.

My OH says the same about needing the weight Julie when I am lugging it about and moaning. When I moan enough he takes over and finishes the job.

Re: Carpet cleaner.

My son has had three Vax carpet cleaners, each one broke during the first use, free replacements were sent for them to develop exactly the same problem with broken brushes. Vax admitted there was a problem, but my son got so fed up with their rubbish machines he took them to the tip.

Re: Carpet cleaner.

I have a bissel and it does a pretty good job for a home machine.

I do have room for it and I lend it out all the time ( they buy the shampoo)

I have cream carpets and pets and because I have this, and I use it often, my carpets look as new

If my carpets were pure filth to start with ( a rental let’s say) nope it’s not strong enough and I’d rent one
