Filling Up.

We were out and about shopping on the weekend and while driving around I was looking out for petrol prices. On the way home I saw a good price and pulled in to fill up. In the time between seeing the price and starting to fill up the price on the bowser jumped 6 cents. I was too late to notice and had already half filled the tank. In the end it was only €2.40 but if it happened every time we filled up it'd cost us around €260.00 a year.

Are they allowed to do that, Kev? Once you have actually started filling up, I mean, sounds very dodgy to me!

I think it happened shortly before I lifted the hand piece from the bowser. Normally I check before I start to fill up. If it did happen while I was filling I'd be really peeved.

Sounds dodgy to me too, maybe they advertise low to get folks in then inflate the price on purpose. I would be wary of going there again.

I don't know how it works in Germany but I do know that this sort of thing is being trialled here in some shops. The price of goods can change at any time.

I have noticed that the price is creeping up,£1.26 here for diesel now.

Local pump prices rise usually about 7pm, they stop the pumps a couple of minutes before they put them up so no one is caught out.

Our local garage was caught watering down the fuel. before he (the owner) went to court he went back to his own country and never prosecuted

Funny you should say that about watering down peetrol Bazza, because a
friend of mine said to me just last week, that her car mechanic friend reckons the cheaper garages who undercut others by quite a few pence, are watering down their petrol.
I didn't believe her. Surely no one would do that?
But the mechanic said that they are getting more cars in with engine problems and it is because of this dodgy petrol!

I'm frightened to go to Asda's garage now, because they are always quite a bit cheaper than everyone else.

I would tend to trust the bigger companies rather than the independents on that occasion mups.
