434 Hours on TV

Although there is 434 hours of TV cookery each week, apparently, we all cook less and prefer to but ready meals to microwave

i prefer to cook.

Why are Chef's made into celebrities?

Most are Showmen and have an army of helpers
They never wash up or scrub pans or clean the kitchen
They only chop food on TV
And they all use far too much butter and cream in their recipes as well

Why do we have that swearing maniac Ramsay on TV daily?... who is now a multi millionaire?

Most of then use cookery aids like mixers.
The best Chefs use a very sharp knife

There are lots excellent Cooks in many homes who often never get a thank you for there efforts as they are taken for granted.

Re: 434 Hours on TV

I used to like cookery programmes but I am totally fed up with then now. They have become too poncy for my liking. There was someone on the other day frying fish scales.

Saturday mornings are full of them when most people are out shopping anyway.

We have Gordon F*****g Ramsay
Jamie (I'm a fake Eastender) Oliver
The Hairy (should be wearing hats) bikers
Nigella (I often cook in my underwear) Lawson.

Although I knew there were too many cookery programmes on TV, I had no idea it was as much as 434 hours per week. Over kill as usual. At one time it was home make overs.

I like them

Not all of them but some

I like to watch for inspiration and I love road tours they all seem to do, especially enjoyed Rick Steins Mexican one and am enjoying the Hairy Bikers Mediterranean one

I cook. Every day from scratch, and I wouldn't be without my Magimix

I like some cooking programs too and enjoyed 'Rick Stein in Mexico ' I almost went to live and work there so found it particularly interesting.
I also cook everything from scratch including making bread.
