WOW! Awesome, Tabs! I am really impressed!
I was going to post "Christ our Lord is Risen Today" but I'm on my phone. It is a very famous and traditional Easter hymn- really a devotional poem set to music, by the great Methodist hymnographer, Charles Wesley. I remember singing that with my dad every Easter in church when I was young. Nice memories...

Re: Poetry please.

Seeing Muddy's thread reminded me of a poem I wrote.

Cross Bred

There is a dog breed called a Cockapoo,
And this I have to say to you,
Why do they have to breed
Cross pedigree dogs? Do they really need,
To mix them the way they do?
It seems so wrong to me,
With Labradoodle, no pedigree,
Yet these crosses, they cost a lot,
Why aren't people content with what they've got?
To find a dog, a cross bred, a mongrel
I'd visit my local rescue kennel.

ANXIETY

What is this name less, faceless fear
That gnaws at me endlessly here
It fills my head with cares and woe
Where it comes from I don’t know
Ah bliss its gone again leaving no reason
For tormenting me this long season.
It will come back to cause me pain
No question, it always comes back again.
My stomach knots my legs arms quiver
An icy dart and my back begins to shiver
It’s useless to hide or try to run away
For it will wait to crush me another day.
Hark, it speaks and says it’s name

“My name is Anxiety & have come to claim
All that I can gather of the human race
Render them useless in every place
While their minds are filled with me
They are blinded, and cannot see
There is an answer to this deadly game
But don’t ask me to speak its name
While I exist with my brother Fear
The plans of men will disappear
I know your hearts, I know your plans
I wreck your days,
Why ? (because
I can."(C) RJ

Re: Poetry please.

Someone was talking of summer this morning and it got me to remember that i wrote a poem about Summer so here it is, I hope you enjoy my poem.

Thoughts of Summer

As I rise from my bed and open the blinds
I see sun shining through my window
Amazing how good the sun makes me feel
In Winter my mood is so low

I see people walking, barely clad
With laughter and smiles on their faces
Lots of children running around
As they visit adventurous places

Wonderful smells waft from our neighbours
As they light up the barbecue
Iced juice and water’ll be drank
Or perhaps even a stronger brew

Paddling pools come out once again
Kids screaming with glee and delight
Splashing about, having great fun
Some having a water fight

Hearing the bell of the ice cream van
Dads hand digs deep in his pocket
Can I have an ice cream Dad?
Then off they go like a rocket

Lawnmowers out, the smell of fresh grass
Hits upon our inviting noses
With watering cans and tools in hand
We take care of our blooming roses

These are a few thoughts of Summer times
That always will make me smile
Long live Summer and happy days
Hopefully it’ll be here for a while!

Sad And Lonely - Poem by Taher Shemaly

As I started sipping
my daily lovely coffee
A race of memories just began in my mind
of old days, the hard and the easy
And looking at myself now with a tear in my eye
just to find myself sad and lonely

And as I walk down that antique street
where my old little house was meant to be
It feels hard to breathe just to know
that I am out of it now and maybe
maybe forever I would be like a rover
that tells stories of how sad I am and lonely

Those stairs I used to go up and down
everyday in fast rhythm used to be happy
In my room I used to stay most of the time
never thought that i would live in a tragedy
But words are not useful now
for sad I am and lonely

Though poverty was my company long ago
but riches couldn't bring back honey
The honey I saw in my sweet old days
Days of the poverty and agony
Believe me my friend riches won't give you a thing
But to make you sad and lonely
