No, with the Sansa you need a computer - no such need with a phone.

That is true you have to hook it up to a PC, if I like a track I tend to grab it off youtube and convert it to mp3, then stick it on the sans, I actually build up a few on the PC, then copy them over and give it a charge at the same time.I find the 8 gig of tracks on random keeps me happy enough without too many tracks repeating to often.
