Definitely Jam first it is difficult to spread jam onto cream but not cream onto Jam, think Victoria sandwich

Yes Floydy true what you say but the Pimms here has been replaced with good old Devon Cider and on the lawns we participate in Devon pasties and Cream teas mainly eaten in the vicinity of Olde Worldy Cockington while watching a game of cricket .....

I sometimes buy a reasonably priced tub of clotted cream and a pack of plain scones. I usually have the mini pots of jam in stock, so voila, my own cream teas, at a fraction of the cost.

LOL, 6 of us went for afternoon tea at a local country Hotel this afternoon (very posh, it had a long driveway up to it). Once tea had been poured for us they brought out the 3-tier plate of sandwiches, plus the 3-tier plate of cakes, consisting of several types of cake, including fresh clotted cream and jam scones. Of course that set us all off discussing which should be the correct way to serve them, jam and cream or cream and jam (ours were jam first with cream on top. HWMO made everyone laugh when the one famly member kept insisting it should be the other way round -cream first followed by the jam, so HWMO picked up his scone from the serving plate and plonked it upside down onto his plate. smiled and said "argument over".

Jam then cream anything else is just too messy. Love the upside down scone solution yup...problem solved
