I know he couldn’t have gone on any longer. I would have preferred if he had died naturally and not me having to have him put to sleep.
At the time, I felt guilt that l had, had him murdered.... those feelings have now passed.

I know Art, it is the guilt that affects us most. I had to have my cat put down six years ago but I could still get upset if I let myself think about it too much.

Working for humane societies in third world countries I have had many dogs put to sleep and I felt for everyone .Some had horrible incurable deseases and no home or people to care for them .
I think of them often .

Aawww Art, I'm so sorry to hear about Marty. It's heart wrenching losing a beloved pet. I can only offer you a hug
and a picture I always keep in my mind's eye:I used to tell myself and my daughter, that they were instantly better and happy 'up there'. Having fun again and enjoying themselves because they were well again.
And the crossed (X) vapour trails in the sky, left by the planes, were our pets blowing us kisses.
Sounds daft, but I like to believe it. Makes me smile and keeps away the tears, even now, years later.

I am sure, l once read in one of your posts that your family also had a poodle?
If so, you will know they are wonderful, intelligent little dogs and not ‘oxygen wasters’ as someone years ago, referred to them as!
