Cheer up Pug me old stick
We all love you taking the Mick
Some of us just have to take short pauses
For all sorts of reasons and causes
Stay on and look after the shop
And forget about dumping your ole laptop.

Re: Gumbud Leisurely Scribbles (part 2)

Here's a cheerful one to brighten all your flowery hearts.

I’ve given up my search for the truth
Tis only a dream to be held by the youth
I’ve abandoned my hopes of harmony complete
I’m sick of the lot right up to my teeth
Eternal rest seems more alluring
And the promise of a heaven reassuring
So if you happen to glance at my stone
I tried, so f—k off and leave me alone.

This is Mars Barr’s epitaph, excuse the bad word but it’s the only headstone in our cemetery with the ‘F’ word on it.

Stick with it Pug, you are part of the elite group of Over50s poets and I'm used to your humour I love reading the Leisurely Scribbles thread .... well done to Jem for starting it and you 'lads' for bringing a smile to my face

Just to let you know this topic is appreciated

I always pop in to read your fluff

your clever verses typed in the rough,

you may think so few of us care

about your leisurely, scribbled fare,

but some peep in, so please don't stop

for your daily meandering, we would not swap

The lady with the wooden leg

No one knew how it happened
The lass with the neat wooden leg
And no one knew that she had one
Until along came Bill Murphy and dog Fred

They became an inseparable couple
Walked arm in arm through Skegness
But Bill insisted that Fred followed discreetly
Just a nose length from the ladies silk dress

The mayor donned his cap, the alderman too
The lady smiled meekly and Bill beamed through and through
They stopped for a moment and then Bill felt some dread
It was then that the dog cocked and peed on her leg!

Lovely one Gumbud.

Thanks Mags and you Solo for your lovely poem and kind words.

So you see Gumbud somebody does look in here now and then, that’s torn it for me now, I used to be able to come in here and have a nap with nobody around for miles to disturb me.

Re: Gumbud Leisurely Scribbles (part 2)

Here is a old rhyme I came across, it can't be that old as the word Quiz is fairly new as words go.

A boy and a girl went out hiking,
Of course they were both wearing shorts.
They called at the old Pig and Whistle
And ordered a couple of quarts.
They came home late that evening,
And the neighbours all started to quiz,
For he came home wearing her shorts,
And she came home wearing his.
