That's hormonal though CC, nothing to do with them being 'gay'.

Interesting theory MickB.

Sue, I'm still not sure about gay marriage but have nothing against people who are gay.

Interesting, and if true, it would make gay relationships not only totally "natural" but also beneficial to the world.

Funny thing... all are just WORDS.. It's the cultures that make them acceptable or not.

I would however appreciate a PM in the future if I say something that is not acceptable in the UK. No need to embarass someone is there?
So.... "poof" is socially unacceptable in the UK, am I understanding this correctly? I had to look it up. Me being a dumb American, "poof" to me means something that has suddenly disappeared. But let's look at things from a different angle - the word "fag", which is widely used in the UK to mean a cigarette, is a derogatory term for homosexual in the US.

Funny, that.

Me too, although I don't say much. I don't always have anything worthwhile to talk about.

What is wrong with being corrected though - I am sure you would do the same if it were an American term misused.
I don't understand the gnashing of teeth rather than - I misunderstood ........

I never said there was anything wrong with correcting. In fact, that wasn't even the point of my post. I was just making an observation. My post was in no way referring to the 'correcting' going on. I just found it amusing how a word that's perfectly harmless in one country can mean something completely different in another. Which is why I said it was funny.
