Julie ..i was advised to avoid sugar free sweets...as they make you go to the loo a lot. when i was a youngster..our wee sweetie shop used to sell the sweets cheap if they were going soft...and that's when i like them...soft toffee... oh yum
Yes the diabetic nurse gets a bit annoyed with my use of them too but as my blood sugar levels are perfect she has no way to stop me using them. The sula sweets I use don't seem to have that effect although I limit myself to 4 a day, just cannot seem to work well without my sweeties in the evening, air is so dry I either need a suckable sweet or a drink and the sweet works best I find.
Diabetics should eat their sweets along with or soon after a meal. The other foods in the meal slow the sugar absorption, helping to prevent a rapid spike in blood sugar.
So there is no need to go without a treat altogether.

Yes I realise this but being on a calorie counting diet the sugar free options allow me to indulge with out the guilt
that's the trouble when you buy sweets for xmas early...the temptation....i know from experience....many a year i've had to replace sweets bought for my children when they were young...just couldn't help myself...he he
