It has been suggested that around 400,000 - 500,000 animals are being killed on #Tassie roads every year! Secondary roadkill is far too high also! Our meat eating animals such as the endangered Tasmanian Devil, Quolls and Wedge Tailed Eagles are being hit while eating roadkill. I’m a big advocate for safely pulling roadkill off the road. While doing that it gives you a chance to check pouches! A high percentage of baby joeys actually survive their mothers being hit by a car. Joeys have been found alive days after the initial accident and if not found, face a horrible death. So please, if you see a dead or injured animal and you can’t stop and assist, please contact a wildlife group.
