Re: Demonstrations in Iran
If people really want to discuss these demonstrations, perhaps it would be wiser to talk about the reasons for them, rather than criticize those with differing opinions
Social media has demonstrated to to the people of Iran that life is different in other parts of the world. People who run the country want to maintain power, so are prepared to bend the rules a bit over time...... the demonstrators either don't trust the leaders or want the changes done sooner.
Who can blame them, when most of the middle east has been a power struggle between different sections of a religion?
The only way the middle east will ever know peace is when all religions become a free choice and have no say over the laws of the land. They should become peaceful groups where people worship by choice and are not forced..... isn't that what faith is all about?
Both Sunni and Shia Muslims want power and their countries allow the clerics to have too much influence on the laws of the country. Sadly the only way either will win this battle is war, which means many Muslims, Sunni or Shia, will die.
Any religion that is allowed to control it's people and makes no move to change its rules, is nothing better than a political group, masquerading as a religion. Sunni an Shia have different rules yet use the same holy book so how can that work? I can show no respect to any religion that doesn't allow its followers to make their own choices
