Selling Laptops

I have toooo many computers, so a couple of laptops are up for the chop via WightBay. They don't have original W7 discs. Any precautions I should take to delete software and files. Neither have any personal files as these are held on satellite HDs
Hints gladly welcomed.

Re: Selling Laptops

Obviously reset the machines back to the state they were in when you first got them using the laptop's own recovery system.

Then personally I would download a sizable video file and then cut and paste it rpeatedly until the hard disk is completely filled up.

You can do this progressively i.e.

After first cut and paste you have 2 video files

Highlight both then cut paste again = 4 files

Hightlight 4, cut and paste = 8

and so on

1,2,4,8,16,32,64 etc

It will quickly ramp up.

Doing this will ensure that your hard drive is completely overwritten so that no "undelete" software can be used to see your previous details.
