When Labour left power in '79 we were bankrupt as usual. By '82 we were on the road to prosperity again. Because Labour left us bankrupt unemployment went up at first but by '82 unemployment started to go down and kept falling until she was forced into the ERM (the precursor to the Euro) When we joined the ERM the economy stopped dead in the water and unemployment started to go up again. As soon as Norman Lamont allowed us to fall out of the ERM the economy got back on track and unemployment continued to fall until well after Blair was elected. After that the Blair/ Brown chickens begun to come home to roost and as usual unemployment begun to rise again. It always happens; when Labour leave power the Country is in a state of bankruptcy. It only took George Osborne 2 years to start bringing unemployment down again; thank you George. Now we have full employment and a strong currency. If you have a strong currency you can 'do things' for the CountryRe: Who do you think has been the the worst PM in the last 50 years
