Re: How can anyone deny the Holocaust happened?

I watched a series of documentaries on Sunday night about the Allies' advances into Germany and Berlin following D-Day, the Allies coming from Normandy and France while the Russians were approaching from the east.

One of the programmes featured film of the relief of Belsen by the British 11th Armoured Division and personal diaries by some of the soldiers were read out. They couldn't believe what they saw. Inside were more than 60,000 emaciated and ill prisoners in desperate need of medical attention. More than 13,000 corpses in various stages of decomposition lay littered around the camp. A further 500 inmates died of typhus and malnutrition after the liberation.

How anyone can deny this atrocity and others carried out at Auschwitz and Buchenwald is beyond me.

Hi

We cannot legislate against Idiots.

I have been to Auschwitz, a very salutary experience, even for a cynic like me.

My first boss was Bernard Cywinski, Ex Army , Polish, and one of those into Belsen.

A lovely man, but the experience affected him forever.

Not just victors. I'm sure that history books in the countries affected do say this. Russia for example has a totally different version of 20th Century history based on communist propaganda.

It's quite a big movement. There is a very active website called Metapedia devoted to revisionist views. It even looks like wiki because it's on their platform (but not part of them)

Re: How can anyone deny the Holocaust happened?

Holocaust Memorial Day.

A day to remember all of the Holocaust victims. Many of whom have not been acknowledged as being a part of the staggering figures, they may not have all died in the chambers, but many did.
Victims who were children, disabled, political prisoners, Jehova's, scouts, clergy, gypsies and more of those who did not fight.
For anyone to deny it, is foolish and although it has been attributed to the Jewish, if the article link is correct, a further 16 to 20 million non Jews were also murdered because they didn't fit in with the Nazi regime. We must not forget them either.

Ukrainians 5.5 - 7 million
Jews (of all countries) 6 million +
Russian POWs 3.3 million +
Russian Civilians 2 million +
Poles 3 million +
Yugoslavians 1.5 million +
Gypsies 200,000 - 500,000
Mentally/Physically Disabled 70,000- 250,000
Homosexuals Tens of thousands
Spanish Republicans Tens of thousands
Jehovah's Witnesses 2,500 - 5,000
Boy and Girl Scouts, Clergy, Communists, Czechs, Deportees, Greeks, Political Prisoners, Other POWs, Resistance Fighters, Serbs, Socialists, Trade Unionists, Others Unknown

This article is long, but interesting and eye opening.

Re: How can anyone deny the Holocaust happened?

The making of Sidney Bernstein's documentary film of the concentration camps is being shown now on More 4.
It's absolutely horrendous and is an eternal testimony to the Germans inhumanity to innocent men women and sadly little children .
Genocide on an industrial scale that never should be forgotten.
And side by side to theses hell camps lived the Germans people who all knew what was going on yet continued to live their normal lives,

Yet this film has not been shown for 70 years.

there isn't anything they could do. The sad thing is that history is starting to repeat itself with the same political climate as existed in the '30s.

It certainly is, but so many people seem incapable of seeing it.
