The Price Of Staying In!!

Thank God we’re leaving….Our EU bill is set to soar by a third!

QUOTE

Britain’s contribution to the EU budget is to soar by almost a third - just before the country formally cuts ties with Brussels.
Official figures slipped out by the Treasury reveal that the UK’s net contribution to the bloc will jump in the final two years before Brexit.

Britain’s net payment of £7.9billion to the EU budget this financial year will rise to £8.1Billion in 2017/18, before reaching £10.2Billion in 2018/19.

This means the UK will have to hand over £18.3Billion during the next two years while Theresa May negotiates the terms of Britain’s exit from the EU.
The 29 per cent hike in the net contribution, forecast by the Independent Office for Budget Responsibility, reflects rising demands from Brussels and the falling value of the UK’s rebate.

The bill could rise again if the Prime Minister agrees a transitional deal with the EU and Britain ends up continuing payments into the Brussels budget.
Official figures suggest the net bill for EU membership would continue to rise to almost £11Billion a year by 2021.

UNQUOTE

Isn’t it just typical of Brussels trying to squeeze ever more money out of us, it’s especially perverse of them to ask the British public to hand over even more to the EU when we have made it very clear we want to leave.
This only goes to show that we need to leave as soon as possible! Never mind 2 years, Let’s work towards 1 year because every day we remain it is costing us more money.

Can you imagine what that money could do towards our Social Care Crisis. It could pay it off at a stroke and we would still have money left over!!

Those ratbags will try and extort every penny they can from us before we slam the door on our way out.

Come on Theresa, TIME IS MONEY!!

I keep hearing we may have to carry on paying on after we leave that wasn't part of any deal I had imagined.

Hi

There are practical difficulties in leaving at the drop of a hat.

Difficulties which will cost us money.

In my view we leave as soon as these difficulties have been resolved, not before.

Re: The Price Of Staying In!!

Apparently we signed up to all sorts of things in the EU parliament including contributing to the huge pensions its members get.
We can't extricate ourselves from some of these things without paying up or we face legal action in the EU courts.

If we just don't pay up the country's credit rating will be lost, not a good thing when we rely on borrowing to keep the country going ( a big mistake getting into that mess in the first place) .

Shouldn't be impossible to transfer the pension management, for our own EU members, back to the UK.

The figures been bandied about are getting ridiculous.

You'd think we'd be awarded some kind of goodwill compensation from say, for example, ... Poland .. who's prospered greatly from the Uk's input into their roads, railways, hospitals etc... not to be confused with the state of our own which is pretty dire by comparison now.

Typical loan sharks but about right for a messy divorce.

Hi

Funny you should say that.

May is after splitting the united front of Merkel, Juncker and Co.

She is wanted to divert some of our overseas aid to the Visigrad group, the Eastern EU Countries, which includes Poland.

Donald Tusk is a big Merkel and Juncker fan and one of those pushing for punishing us.

He is the ex PM of Poland and President of the European Council.

Poland is now objecting to his re election.

Poland has it's own problems with Merkel and Co and is a big supporter of the UK.

Tusk may be president of the council, but wouldn't have a say in how Poland votes as he stood down from politics there and his party isn't in power. Britain allegedly wants to divert £700m to these countries to bribe them to back the UK in Brexit negotiations. It hasn't been agreed and I doubt it will happen. It's a crazy idea.

Re: The Price Of Staying In!!

I'm afraid that's not the end of it. Consider where a lot of that money is going.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...it-debate.html

And, of course, their Lordships and Ladyships are going to debate Brexit this week.

I'm sure they will be completely unbiased in their decisions...

...despite their very generous pensions paid by the EU, on top of their equally generous 'daily allowances', of course.

I think it would be a fair bet that the Lords will delay Brexit (they can't stop it) for as long as they possibly can for their own financial gain.

When this mess is finally over, I'd like to see the Lords dissolved and replaced by a democratically elected house, with much reduced numbers. The present situation where we have over 800 people being paid to do nothing much more than having a nap is absolutely disgusting.

What it means is that you won't be able to freeload off the EU as you are leaving.

and you will have to pay back up to the 60 billion you owe before discussions get very far.

I guess the NHS will have to wait a bit longer for its 350 million a week...
