Yet more hospital cuts.

The Government's plans for further cuts to the NHS prior to lining it up for privatisation.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-39031546?foo=bar&

They brazenly admit that its all to do with cuts and money saving:

The proposals have been made by local NHS bosses as part of a national programme to transform the health service and save money.

But a review of the plans by the King's Fund think tank warned they were not always credible because there were not enough services outside of hospitals currently and there was a lack of money to invest in more.

It's not quite so simple if you read the article looks like hospitals at the moment are being asked to do a lot could be better done in the community. I'm not sure what to think really, we do need better GP cover, do need elderly care etc it could actually help the hospitals in the long run.

Every government does these sort of changes, time we had a cross party exchange of ideas to move our NHS forward instead of political points scoring.

NHS should never be political needs to be above that with proper planning etc for future needs, I'd suggest policing and fire etc put in that category too. Possible housing plans as well. Stop them playing with things Everytime there's a change of government.

Have you forgotten so easily??? - Didn't the government (via the scumbag 'nasty party' health Minister Andrew Lansley) hold a top-to-bottom review of the NHS in 2012 and change the whole management structures???

No ive forgotten nothing including damaging policy's like PFI, no party has done anything positive for years, mind you i despise them all so no one party axe to grind. Why is haviong a cross party debate such a bad idea.

We should be looking to improve the situation for the long term.

Having worked in three hospital groups as an external management consultant, my conclusion is crystal clear. Get rid of a high proportion of the suits and overstaffed backroom administrators. bring back matrons or directors of nursing and re-introduce pragmatic nurse training.

Don't forget that the BBC is the active part of the Labour Party....

I concur with that and it was beginning to happen until that scumbag Lansley stuck his bloody great paw in it.

Re: Yet more hospital cuts.

Sometimes instead of personal scrapping (on so many threads) and labelling everything done or suggested by one party as crap, if you take the time to read the stories you find some real improvements!!

For Example...

How Closing Hospital Services Can Be Good

Stroke care in London is now world class - and it is all because some services were shut down.

The capital's stroke care was overhauled in early 2010. Instead of being spread across 30 hospitals as they used to be, services are now centralised on eight "super sites".

It has meant patients get fast, 24-hour access to the best care, saving hundreds of lives a year.
If a stroke is suspected, a patient is immediately taken to one of the eight centres. There they are assessed by a stroke specialist and given a brain scan within 30 minutes of arrival.

Very good darlin' - but we don't all live in London. Closing hospitals outside the capital means the loss not just of 2nd class stroke care but everything else too.
