You are joking, aren't you?

I agree with you about the harsh sentence, of course. If that were to be handed out routinely these days the prisons would be overflowing, going by the number of cyclists I see without lights - and that's at night, of course.

On the other hand, the entire judicial system seems to have gone to pot these days. The majority of sentences that I hear of are just laughed at by the criminals who receive them. Many are no longer sent to prison for crimes that would have certainly incurred a spell inside when I was young. Perhaps the government is encouraging this to save the expense of building more prisons.

In my opinion, the police fail to respond for one of two reasons: either they are understaffed and cannot afford to assign staff, or they too are disillusioned by the lenient 'punishments' handed down these days. If you know that some doddery old fool behind the bench is going to give a criminal a virtual slap on the wrist, why bother?

The whole system needs a good shake-up. Idiot judges sacked, prisons changed to basic accommodation instead of four-star hotels, and police numbers increased. God knows we're going to need them because I can imagine crime is going to increase as it is being actively encouraged.

Or mention the words 'racist incident'.

Re: Harsh Prison Sentences

I do not think that Judges are infallable.

They all have faults and their senteneces reflect what side of the bed they got out off that day.

If in a bad mood or hungry, you will be in for it. If in a happy mood the sentence will be a light one.

The reason they let off Pedophiles lightly is beacuse some of them have the same tendncies

And..if you are an attractive female...you will get away with murder

The police could lie....claim they arrested him/her riding a bike without lights....that'd increase the term of imprisonment.

Re: Harsh Prison Sentences

If true-what could you expect from a judiciary that is not always `John Deed`?-ruddy uppity nigger

If a joke read my lips-the ways of Manchester prison are very strange.
