Well said Tara, absolutely agree.

Re: 100 year-old man in Court

The article didn't say what the old man had done.
We do not know if he touched her inappropriately, perhaps through her clothing, or whether it was an actual rape.
Should the sentence be the same regardless?

Or if, indeed, he had done nothing and the girl was a gold digger.

Re: 100 year-old man in Court

If the man is going to trial then it's highly likely to be some basis for the court case. The C.P.S has to have some evidence to go ahead with a prosecution.

Why are some making assumptions that she must be a gold digger. I too think that every accusation of sex abuse should be persued. They days of women being disbelieved by the authorities are supposedly gone.

+1

Is it any wonder some sex crimes go unreported?

People(well, some)forget that the CPS make the decision after careful consideration and debate and have to be relatively confident of a conviction before proceding.

Indeed they do TPin. Careful investigations are carried out before any prosecution. They do not just rely on the word of the accuser, so she must have convinced some one that she was being truthful.
As for there being a time limit. I wonder if some think that the murder of some one should be allowed to disappear in the annals of time too. The victims of sexual abuse will never forget and neither should the law.

And as we all know there are a few ladies who have not been quite honest and have told porkie pies and ruined the life of the person accused.
