We call it cheese on toast, but if I melt the cheese in a pan and then whisk an egg into it and then spread it onto the toast and under the grill, it's even more delicious and then we call it rarebit....

Mind you, I've been trying Shropshire Cheese lately and I love the taste - so much stronger than Chedder so - maybe - a good candidate for Rarebit plantman?! stevmk2

I'll pass on the sauce Steve but the Shropshire cheese certainly sounds good so I'll give that a try as soon as I can locate some.
One of my favourite quick but incredibly filling (and probably terribly unhealthy) meals is beans on cheese on Marmite on heavily buttered crumpets - heaven!
Talking about cheese, has anyone ever made mashed potatoes, covered them with grated mature cheddar, then put them in the oven to bubble and brown.........absolutely delicious
