Re: Blocked bathroom sink

hope you solved the problem Honey. I had same problem last year and was told to use very hot washloads regularly to remove grease.

Re: Blocked bathroom sink

Have you looked under the sink? There is probably a bottle trap or an S Trap which is unscrewable?? Make sure there is no water in the sink if you do remove the trap or have a large bowl underneath while you remove it. Does the pop up plug not just lift out?

Re: Blocked bathroom sink

yes there is an S trap but I wasn't sure what would happen if I opened it. The pop up plug is attached and I can't see it can easily be removed, I'd much prefer the old fashioned kind

I'll try your idea tomorrow, thanks

Re: Blocked bathroom sink

Its certainly worth removing the trap Honey but take care, it will be full of water so have a large bowl immediately underneath it. Make sure the sink is as empty as possible or all of that water will come out of the open pipe. Oh and don't turn either tap on or you will get soaked!! Good luck.

Re: Blocked bathroom sink

There's a product called 'Mr Muscle drain unblocker'

I use that - it seems to work.

Re: Blocked bathroom sink

The best product ever is Jeyes sink and pipe unblocker its in an orange plastic bottle, pour half down the sink leave for 20 minutes, then use the cold water to rinse - job done
To keep them clear I use a quarter of a bottle every 3months, been using for years.
You can get this for £1 in the pound shops, no rotten smell or mess - perfick !

Re: Blocked bathroom sink

Why not do the job properly and undo the two big nuts( they will only be hand tight ) and drop the base of the trap off into a bucket ! just don't turn the sink taps on till you have put the trap base back on.
