Re: Batts V Heinz

This sounds awful but I am a bit of a food snob.
I always use Sainsburys and always buy the well known makes like Heinz. I shouldnt really as I should be living within my budget.
I have tried Cross and Blackwell baked beans and thought they were awful. They seemed to have a tough skin.
In town here we have Sainsburys, Waitrose, Aldi, Lidl, Co-op and Tesco.

At one point in my life I was buying own make value label stuff from Morrisons but its not nice and I could taste the difference.

My daughter who really hates wasting money on food always shops at Aldi.

Re: Batts V Heinz

I used to go for top brands like Heinz but not any more I go for the cheaper version and I find them better. Heinz is too much tomato sauce for me.

Re: Batts V Heinz

Batts make some excellent chutneys and I can recommend their red onion chutney. Their version of Branston pickle is also excellent and indistinguishable from the `real thing`.

Try Lidl's Newgate brand of soups too, I defy you to tell the difference between their tomato soup and Heinz's.
