Please RSPCA....Hurry Up!

I nearly jumped out of my skin when l saw this fox lying by my garage this morning.
I could tell it was not well as its breathing was laboured, so l rang the RSPCA local branch mobile number and left a message. They rang back but when l answered it, there was no one there!
I kept on the line and l could hear breaths of exasperation and then a voice saying, ‘l hate these f*****g phones, l hate it, l hate it’!
I kept saying, ‘Hello, can you hear me’ but she just kept chuntering and swearing away to herself!

I gave up on her and called the main RSPCA number. I was through to a man in Yorkshire. He asked me to do the ‘broomstick test’ and prod the fox with a stick...

Whaaaat? I said, l was too scared and it might lurch at me! Anyway, l realised l had to be strong and went out and gave the poor fox a few prods but it didn’t flinch and just continued with its laboured breathing.

So, here l am waiting for the RSPCA and now l am concerned that it will be dead before they get here...

Distressing for you and the poor animal Art. I have foxes that come in the garden and this does happen occasionally.

Nothing you can do that you have not already done. The RSPCA is not always the caring society it was sadly.

Do yo not have a local wildlife rescue unit, we use one and the response is always fast.

The RSPCA in my opinion are very poor now.

Wildlife Trust are always my option rather than RSPCA. Always worth keeping their number for your area handy

Wildlife Trust home page
Who can help with injured wildlife?

Many people contact us about injured birds and animals.

This is not our area of expertise and unfortunately we cannot take in injured wildlife - but there are lots of specialist rescues who will be able to help. Most of these organisations rely on volunteers, so please call the one that is closest to you first.

They then give a list of your local numbers you can contact

Re: Please RSPCA....Hurry Up!

The lovely RSPCA man has just been.
He said, he thinks the fox had been hit by a car as there was a lot of blood around its head.

He had to put it to sleep...

RIP Foxy..

Re: Please RSPCA....Hurry Up!

I asked him about the woman who l had rung initially and was really swearing. He said, she is a local worker who deals with the cats and kittens.
He said, she is a Worzle Gummidge type character who is always seen holding and feeding newborn kittens that have been abandoned.

Re: Please RSPCA....Hurry Up!

Don't talk to me about the RSPCA! all they are after is money not animal care. Have you seen their headquarters??? if not take a look, that is where the donations are spent. We had one of their inspectors out of his area trying to do a kennel licence check. He was from walsall west mids and our kennels came under South Staffs. I call Mr Davis our inspector and he got onto the RSPCA and gave them a lecture.

What I said to the RSPCA inspector is not printable
