Knitted tea cosy (for a mug)

This is cute! I'm know the basics of knitting... think I may give it a try.

The free pattern can be found here.

I love Knitting, but it's a Winter Evening thing for me. That Mug Warmer is just Awwwwww lol.

Actually seeing that has reminded me....It's time I rooted out our Big Heavy Winter Sweaters and gave them a freshen up wash before the Winter arrives....groan.

Nice idea but won't it get messy very quickly with dribbles from the mug...

That's novel..
It's just the sort of thing our daughter's mother-in-law would love. I think I'll copy it and send it on

Well I'll post a pic of my first attempt at knitting the cosy and you can rate it on a scale of one to ten. I rather think it won't be pronounced 'perfect'

Re: Knitted tea cosy (for a mug)

I have two granddaughters who want to learn to knit, it would be easier teaching Japanese (not that I speak it) but I'm weary of straightening first one then the other with their dropped stitches. I'm thinking of hiding when they come.

I got my 85 year old mother to show me how to do the cable stitch this evening. Will take the project along when I visit so she can critique my work. She's very patient with me... so far!
