Aggg Hornets

We seem to have a sudden influx of hornets here not sure if it is the same elsewhere.

When I went to close the bedroom curtains a few nights ago at bedtime there was a hornet on the outside of the window. I was not too happy sleeping with the window open knowing it was there.

When I took Chloe out for a late walk the other night we returned to find a hornet hovering in the front porch and we had to walk around for ages until it departed.

Now there is one outside the sitting room window watching me as I type

It could be the same one moving about I suppose

Nasty things you may have a nest nearby, worth keeping an eye open see if you can find it. Get someone in to get rid of it.

Think Chloe might eat one if given the chance she really isn't the brightest of dogs ...

Re: Aggg Hornets

Funny how people describe them as being nasty,I've lived in the country side all my life and have never heard of any one being stung, now wasp's thats another thing altogether.

Hornets have an unwarranted fearsome reputation, but will only sting humans if attacked.

Twice the size.

Horntails are often confused with hornets.

While you are in the mood for scratching Morty, think about an army of ants crawling up your leg, or walking though a swarm of midges.

Sorry, just teasing

I can't see how this very large and quite different insect could be confused with a hornet.
A hornet is just a large wasp like insect to look at.
