Nastursiums

I set some seeds about a fortnight ago and still no sign of life.
Is that normal?

Funny you should say that.

Be patient
I sowed some 3 weeks ago, maybe even 4 and they're just starting to come up now.
I was beginning to think mine had gone tunnelling to Australia instead of sprouting upwards.

Re: Nastursiums

Hi

I don't do seeds if at all avoidable, loads of nurseries and smallholdings around here with honesty boxes at the roadside.

It really is not worth the effort.

My runner bean plants only cost me 8p each.

What did it say on the back of the packet Apricot?
Different seeds all have different germination times, so you might have to wait a little longer.
If they still haven't come up when they should have done, I'd re-sow a fresh batch.
They weren't old seeds were they? That can make a difference too.

Preumably you sowed them indoors ... with bottom heat?

Haven't grown anything from seed for years.
Tortoise tends to either eat small shoots or squash them

They grow like a weed in my garden. I like them in sandwiches instead of lettuce but they are nice in salads and the flowers brighten them.

They do grow quite readily Bruce , no nurturing needed , I just press them straight in the ground where i want them to grow .
