Potato Harvest.

I look forward to this day every year. I think of it as my golden harvest because of the colour of the potatoes when they come out of the ground. The variety is called Linda. We've been growing the same variety for about ten years now. Very happy with the harvest.

A lovely crop. I have some still in the ground on my allotment, but need to check how they're doing, whether they're big enough to harvest.

Re: Potato Harvest.

Excuse my ignorance but how can you store all those potatoes for future use.
The ones I buy from the supermarket grow roots after about a week.

Their are so many different varieties of potato , all originating from South America. Over time they've evolved or been genetically modified to our tastes and uses. The seed potatoes we buy are from a range of about ninety different organic varieties. They state as to whether they are good for storing or not. Usually the later the harvest the better or longer the storage time. With supermarket potatoes I would have no idea unless they have the variety writen on the packaging.
