Third Of Disabled Women Missing Out On Crucial Breast Cancer Screenings

This is terrible and I'd guess male figures are fairly high too !

I'm sure some disabilities prevent some from attending but.....when I read an article that uses "can", "may" and "some" I tend to treat the "claims" with a pinch of salt.....especially when it's in the "Huff Post"

Saying that I'd be interested to know the true figures from research carried out by somebody without an agenda.

Having attended a clinic in a wheelchair I think I can believe the figures, also I need help dressing sometimes and trying to take my help, my husband in with me I was shocked to find he wasn't even allowed in the clinic waiting room !

Also fighting for breast screening for a man taught me a lot of people are being missed out of the system.

Load of poppy cock

Even my tiny village they can cope with us disabled

I'm 'able bodied' as in no disability that stops me working. Yes I need help dressing and getting up on exam tables. You would turn red if you could see the positions me and the nurse have to get into just for a smear.......

As for the breast scan I was offered the mobile bus,or if I was a wheelchair user/ disabled in any way, I was offered a hospital appointment where I'm sure the equipment would have been more then capable of dealing with a disabled person

The huffington post??

What can you do? My wife's social media site (http://wommen.org.uk/), which has members all over the country and do all they can to persuade women to take up the offer of breast screening.

It is free, only mildly uncomfortable (so I'm told), and can save your life.

But as the old saying goes, you can take a horse to water but you can't make it drink.
