Turnips

I've got me Meldrew hat on s'mornin'!
Another year without turnips in the shops again?
I grew some last year but, completely forgot this year!
Hence my hunt for them in the supermarkets. Even stew packs don't seem to contain them.
Life's not the same without them.

Re: Turnips

Waitrose usually have some Tess, maybe worth popping in if there is one close to you.
Most shops have swedes but I have noticed very few turnips!

Re: Turnips

Can't get turnip here at all, most people haven't heard of them

Turnip here is swede

I work for a vegetable processor and the owner having found a supplier in Liverpool a lot cheaper then here, had to come check with me that the two ton of swede on its way over was in fact turnip

Re: Turnips

None in our Sainsbury, Tesco, Aldi, will have to pop to Wells for Waitrose.
If not I'll have to try the roadside stalls on the way to Cheddar!
I dunno the lengths one has to go for a turnip these days! (I blame Brexit! )

Peeled and chopped with some swede, parsnips and sweet potato cooked in a steamer and then mashed with a large knob of butter makes a delightful accompaniment to many meals Tess darlin'
