Re: Lion Queen Poems

Here is something I wrote when David Bowie died.

I tried to incorporate many of his songs in this.

If you were a fan of David Bowie I think perhaps you may like this.

Now our Starman has gone
There is no more Sound & Vision
His time had come to Slip Away

Ashes to Ashes We Are Dead Now
But we are thankful he gave us all his Golden Years

His passing has made Changes to our music world
Because he was The Man Who Sold The World us
The Laughing Gnome, The Jean Genie and Aladdin Sane

He took us on a Fantastic Voyage
As he said Lets Dance in Suffragette City

He was a Rebel Rebel, almost committed Rock & Roll Suicide
Now he’s gone Like A Rocket Man
Did our Starman find Life On Mars?

Where Are We Now? We Are The Dead said Ziggy Stardust
And where are the Diamond Dogs? They’re Dancing Out in Space

One last time he calls to Major Tom
Where am I Major Tom?
I’m feeling very still
But I think my spaceship knows which way to go

Tell my wife I love her very much she knows
Ground Control to Major Tom
Your circuit’s dead, there’s something wrong
Can you hear me, Major Tom?
Can you hear me Major Tom?
Can you hear me Major Tom,
Here am I floating round in my tin can
Far above the Moon
Planet Earth is Blue
And there’s nothing I can do……….

David Bowie is now with other Heroes
To his fans he says “thank you for my Fame”
Don’t be feeling Sorrow
Don’t worry God Knows I’m Good

Re: Lion Queen Poems

Here is one most women on here will identify with

Menopausal Times

Sprouting hairs on my chin
I’m looking like a man!
Flushes make one sweat like mad
Good job I have a fan!

Pounding heart, sweating palms
I think I’m going to die
This feeling of anxiety
It makes me want to cry

Angry, calm, happy, sad
My moods are topsy turvy
This bloody rotten menopause
Makes me feel all nervy!

Sneezing hard, yes you guessed
I’ve gone and done a trickle
When I cough, laugh or sneeze
It makes me want to pickle

Tender boobs, aching head
I've grown a 'tash and beard
My hairs gone thin I need a wig
My memory’s disappeared

Aching back, gaining weight
It happens every day
I’ll take my pills, potions too
And keep symptoms at bay

Where’s my aid, I’m going deaf
Its gone down the settee!
Pass my specs, there over there
I’m needing them to see

I guess I have to realise
The reason bones are creaking
Is simply nothing else
C’ept old age is a creeping

Re: Lion Queen Poems

I just jumped out of a virtual aircraft and parachuted into this thread. That was a very moving poem LQ. I can empathise with your thoughts. ( The poem about your mother.
I'll figure out how this forum works soon)

Re: Lion Queen Poems

Today I came across a poem I wrote for my sister when she was diagnosed with lung cancer. I wish I could say she was still with us but she isn't, ironically it wasn't the cancer that killed her. Oh how I loved my sister, i.ll never get over losing her. Anyway here is the poem

My Sister My Friend

My sister my friend I need you to know
You're not alone in this fight
I'll be right beside you all the way
I just know we will be alright

Lean on me, cry on my shoulder
Don't be afraid to tell me your fears
I'm here for you each and every day
Right here with my listening ears

I love you with all my heart and soul
No stronger bond could there be
If you need to shout, scream or cry
Release your emotions and anger to me

Our family is going through a really tough time
We'll take strength from each other to get through
With the love we have, our strong family bond
We'll take this battle and a win we'll pursue

Show this disease your bold defiance
Tell your Cancer "you won't beat me"
Taking strength from us, fight for your life
This triumph we can't wait to see

A positive mind and determined attitude
Is needed alongside this fight
Go forth my dear sister, we know you can do it
Always keeping your life within sight.

I LOVE YOU JULIA
xxxxxxxx
