Re: Seagulls

I may be responsible for a few in Cornwall. I found an injured male one when I was staying there about 20 years ago, so I found an animal sanctuary and took him there. They called me 2 days later to say they had revived him and would release him the next day. Just think a whole flock of his grandchildren could be living in Cornwall now.

Re: Seagulls

That's a coincidence Twink! Is your name Diane by any chance? George was telling me how his Grandad was saved from certain death by this nice young lady who gave him the kiss of life before taking him to a sanctuary. He said his Grandad never forgot your name.

Re: Seagulls

They are the only bird I dislike, they are just aggresive vermin, horrible things.

I could never just leave an injured creature but everybody was laughing at me. I took him back to where I was staying, for a cardboard box to put him in, I insisted that the sanctuary contacted me to let me know what happened to him and everyone at the pub was saying " Don't you think we have enough seagulls round here, without saving more?"
But I don't care because it would have spoiled my holiday if I had left him there to die.

Is that what they are saying when they are squawking viciously at me?
I must have been misunderstanding them all these years

That's so sweet of you, Twink Every count matter ! About 10 years ago, we were walking on a pier and there was an incident that one guy caught a seagull with his jacket and put it to his backpack, saying that it would be his dinner. Bunch of people were there but none of us stopped him-and I was one of them. I still think why I didn't have any courage to stop the crazy guy

Elle, challenging another person is rarely a wise move, you never know how they may behave if they have so little respect for wild life. On the other hand saving an injured creature , who has been hurt, is a two way thing because the creature can be helped to recover and it makes you feel so good that you may have saved it's life.
