Outside door mats

What makes the best outside door mat .
At the moment I have a tufted thing, I think it is polypropenelyn and it doesn't seem to do much at all except hold leaves.

Is coir better for wiping feet, it does hold the water though doesn't it .
Perhaps I could buy one and put it on the top of the tufty one for added drainage

I have a coir but I have a verandah so it doesn't get wet. I saw one a couple of years ago in a country hardware store with 'Oh No! Not you again' printed on it. I have regretted not buying it to this day

I'm not keen on coir either, it does chuck bits around. I have a rubber one with a big pattern that lets the dirt through but hard to actually wipe your feet on...

I'm like Carol, I have a Hard Black Rubber Mat outside my door and when you come inside, I have a black plastic tray, which is meant for putting your dirty shoes on.
