Have you stopped beating your wife?

It's a kind of urban legend that this is a trick question used by LIE DETECTOR operators./
THere seems to be no obvious answer. Has anyone experience of this situation?
What would be a cute answer?

Wasn't it because of questions like this that the binary system was invented a few centuries ago? To try to solve these impossible questions like this or even statements like 'I am a liar'.

I can't off hand rememer who did derive it other than he was European (google it ) I do remember it was refined by George Boole (boolean - get it?) And pretty useless until someone invented the computer

The boot seems to be on the other foot, it’s the hubbies time to be on the receiving end in a lot of cases now, I know one or two of them, what goes around comes around, indeed two years ago a local woman murdered her husband who had been beating her up regularly, she was not given a jail term, good luck to her I say.
